Everybody loves to shop local and when you visit Llandudno, there are a few independent shops that you really shouldn’t miss!
The last few years have taken its toll on the high street and the recent pandemic has only made a bad situation worse. Thankfully, we have so many great independent shops in Llandudno that managed to ride out the storm and will no doubt be stronger than ever! Here are a few of our favourites that we’d love you to visit when you’re next in town. Hopefully, you will help support the smaller, local businesses and keep them going from strength to strength!
Maises Chocolate shop
Based on Vaughan Street (next to Starbucks), this family-run chocolate shop is a must when in Llandudno. You’ll be spoilt for choice and I guarantee you will not be able to resist buying treats for all of your loved ones back home. They can even boast that their chocolate is made right here in Llandudno by their son, a chocolatier! As if all this isn’t enough, you can also visit the ‘Llandudno Chocolate Experience’ to find out some of the histories of making chocolate! Be warned, once you taste their chocolate, you will want more… Don’t worry – they deliver!
Maisies Chocolate Shop North Menswear Art Hut
North Menswear
The best place for Men’s fashion is just around the corner from the Swn Y Mor. This family-run shop offers great brands and a much more personal service that you just don’t get in large high street chains! Stocking brands from Barbour to Replay jeans, there really is something for most people in this little boutique and you will definitely leave looking a lot smarter than when you arrived.
The Art Hut
As you come into the Swn Y Mor from the car park, you wouldn’t be able to miss the array of Llandudno pictures adorning the walls. We regularly receive comments on them and are proud to say that we got the all from Art Hut on Mostyn Street, Llandudno. This little shop is heaven for anyone that’s looking to brighten up their home. Whether your looking for some contemporary art or limited edition prints, there’s definitely something here that you’ll fall in love with.
The Kitchen Range
Sitting right at the beginning of Mostyn Street, it’s difficult to know whether to describe this shop as more like a ‘Tardis’ or ‘Aladins Cave’. Small on the outside, but big on the inside and filled with lots of little homeware gems, you are about to find a few things that you don’t know how you’ve coped without! Having purchased our cast iron teapots from the Kitchen Range a few years ago, it wasn’t long before our guests were going in trying to buy them for their home!
Farm Vintners Wine Merchants
Nestled in the back streets of Llandudno, this wine merchants is the perfect place to pick up a special wine for a special occasion, a ‘6 bottle set’ to give you memories of Spain, or, if you’re anything like us, pick a great wine based on the funny picture on the label! Either way your on to a winner as if it wasn’t any good they wouldn’t be stocking it! We’re proud to say that Ffarm Vintners is also behind the newest addition to our drinks menu – the ‘Great Orme Gin’.
Kitchen Range Ffarm Vintners Petticoat Lane
Petticoat Lane
From unique pieces of furniture to candles, cards and cotton throws, this amazing little boutique is a treasure trove of gifts and homewares that you just won’t want to part with (I recommend buying 2 of everything – 1 as a gift and 1 to keep). Kate Russell opened the lifestyle shop over 7 years ago and is passionate about the concept of ‘thoughtful buying’.
Whatever your reasons for visiting Llandudno, the small retailers really need everyone’s support. So when you’re next pounding the high street, pop into one of our great little independent shops and pick up a thing or two.
